Don't Blame the Roads on Operator Error or Negligence

Roberts introduces bill to fund SR 347 overpass at Riggs Road

Rep. Bret Roberts, R-Maricopa, has introduced legislation that would appropriate funds to construct a highway overpass near the city of Maricopa, linking State Route 347 to Interstate 10.

HB 2802, if enacted, would appropriate $35 million from the state general fund in fiscal year 2021 to the Arizona Department of Transportation to construct an overpass over Riggs Road and SR 347, better linking the route to the I-10 corridor. Maricopa Monitor

Head-on collision on SR 347 caused by possible DUI

It all started at 5 a.m. that Friday when 21-year-old Jessica Garcia apparently ran out of gas in the No. 2 southbound lane of State Route 347 at mile marker 175, shown on Arizona Department of Transportation maps as being just north of the Smith-Enke Road and SR 347 intersection. Lanes are given numbers from left to right.

According to the Department of Public Safety, a red Chevrolet sedan was traveling in the No. 2 lane when it collided with the rear end of Garcia’s Land Rover. The red Chevy then traveled through the gravel median and collided head-on with an oncoming white Hyundai sedan in the No. 1 northbound lane of SR 347. A white Chevrolet traveling behind the white Hyundai then hit the left side of the red Chevy. Maricopa Monitor

Wise up People...

Time and again, we keep hearing about how bad SR-347 is. The fact is that there's absolutely nothing wrong with that long smooth stretch of road. the real problem is with selfish and irresponsible drivers, who seem to have no problem with gambling with the lives of their fellow motorists. No tax or large sum of money is ever going to fix stupid. People need to put down their phones, pay attention, be patient, slow down and drive sober.
